Annual Fund
The Annual Eagle Fund
for Bishop Watterson High School
“A Bishop Watterson education forever shapes the type of persons our graduates grow up to be: bright, caring and engaged. It is the mission of Bishop Watterson to make that life-altering experience available to all families who desire to share in it. The Annual Eagle Fund makes that possible.” – John Stock, past parent
We are asking that all Bishop Watterson families, alumni and friends prayerfully consider a gift to the Annual Eagle Fund so that we can “Restore all things in Christ.”
Purpose
The purpose of the Bishop Watterson Annual Eagle Fund is to fill the “funding gap,” the difference between the actual cost of educating one of our students and the tuition charged. The Annual Eagle Fund also provides for general operating expenses.
Most Catholic high schools have a “gap” which is due to our desire to keep tuition affordable for any family that wants a Catholic education for their son or daughter.
Our gap has increased from prior years due to a change in the method of computation to reflect nationwide standards. Across the United States, the average funding “gap” of a Catholic high school is $1,700.
Uses
The Annual Fund provides unrestricted funding that will be used for this school year’s operating costs such as:
- Bridging the gap between tuition and the actual cost of a Catholic education today
- Providing tuition assistance funds and grants
- Increasing technology advancement
- Financing ongoing facility enhancements and upgrades
- Offering the best learning environment possible
Your support of the Annual Eagle Fund will help us to meet our operating-related, mission-critical needs and allow us to continue to provide accessible Catholic education to the young people of Columbus and surrounding areas.
Catholic schools typically engage in a myriad of fundraising activities which can lead to confusion among alumni, parents and friends. At Bishop Watterson, we are working hard to simplify the fundraising process and to clarify the specific purpose of each initiative.
The Annual Eagle Fund is NOT:
- A capital campaign or major gift initiative
- Restricted gifts (e.g., scholarship funds)
- Special events (e.g., Eagle Auction, Men’s Night, golf outings)
