EdChoice

The state of Ohio has two categories of EdChoice Scholarships: Traditional, based on the student’s assigned public school eligibility status; or Expansion, which is available to all families based on the family’s income percentage of the federal poverty guideline.

While Bishop Watterson is an approved EdChoice provider, please keep in mind that EdChoice Scholarships do not cover the full cost of tuition. Families will receive a statement with the balance due.

Additionally, state law still permits a family to receive only one state scholarship, either EdChoice or Jon Peterson.

General Reminders

Our deadline for families to submit is March 15, 2025.

  • A separate application must be submitted for each child.
  • Please note that due to volume, no hard copy applications or supporting documentation will be accepted. Applications dropped off at school will not be processed.

RENEWAL APPLICATIONS
for families currently receiving EdChoice Traditional or EdChoice Expansion and renewing the same scholarship for 2025-26

To renew your scholarship, please follow the steps below. Renewal applications do not need to complete the income verification again as the state will use the verified income application from this year.

  1. Complete all portions of the two-page RENEWAL application and sign/date (one application per child)
  2. Obtain a copy of a utility bill showing proof of address (water, electric, cable, etc.). The mailing AND service address as well as name must be visible. Phone bills are not accepted. Utility bill must be within 90 days.
  3. Scan all documents into a single PDF file (one file for each student) or .jpg file. The JPG or PDF file should then be emailed to edchoice@bwhs.org.

NEW APPLICATIONS
for families NOT currently receiving EdChoice or whose assigned public high school is eligible for EdChoice Traditional Scholarship

If you wish to apply for the state of Ohio EdChoice Scholarship for the first time, please carefully follow the steps below.

  1. Complete all portions of the two-page application and sign/date (one application per child)
  2. Obtain a copy of the student’s birth certificate
  3. Obtain a copy of a utility bill showing proof of address (water, electric, cable, etc.). The mailing AND service address as well as name must be visible. Phone bills are not accepted. Utility bill must be within 90 days.
  4. Scan all documents into a single PDF file (one file for each student) or .jpg file. The JPG or PDF file should then be emailed to edchoice@bwhs.org.
  5. If you are applying for Expansion for the first time, the state requires you to submit the following income verification form directly to their website. See instructions below.
