Four Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists
Four Bishop Watterson students have been named National Merit Semifinalists based on their performances on the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
Nichole Bhowmick (St. Andrew) is a team captain of Bishop Watterson’s swim and dive team and also runs cross country. She has been a Mechanisms of Human Disease Program Intern at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and a Research Intern at Ohio State’s Bioinformatics & Mathematical Biosciences Lab at Pelotonia. Nichole is Vice President of the BWHS Good Different Club and a member of the Environmental Club and National Honor Society. She has volunteered at Riverside Methodist Hospital and Dublin Friendship Village and plans to major in biological sciences in college.
Katie Graff (St. Agatha) is a Student Ambassador and serves as Student Council Secretary and on the charity committee in addition to being President of St. Vincent DePaul Society, a member of the In The Know team and has been involved with theatre at St. Charles. She played on the BWHS soccer team for three years and volunteers at Run the Race as well as with the St. Agatha Parish School of Religion. Katie plans to study architecture in college.
Cecila Keller (Immaculate Conception) is Senior Class President and a member of the charity committee for Student Council as well as a Student Ambassador. She is a member of the varsity cross country and track teams along with the In The Know team, and Spanish Club. Additionally she is a senior leader for the Morgan’s Message Club and is co-chair for National Honor Society. Cecila volunteers at Ganzhorn Suites Memory Care, is an altar server and live streamer at Immaculate Conception and does tutoring. She plans to major in health sciences/exercise science and nutrition in college.
Gretchen McGowan (St. Andrew) is Student Council’s Communications Director this year after serving four years as a homeroom rep and on the charity committee. She has played field hockey, run track and been a member of Morgan’s Message Club and Latin Club throughout high school. Gretchen is also a member of the National Honor Society and the Girl Thriving Club and has done volunteer work with numerous summer camps, at St. Andrew’s after-school care and with BWHS Leadership Academy. She plans to major in cognitive science in college.
