Bishop Watterson High School offers a variety of financial assistance for students seeking a Catholic education. Following are the types of financial assistance available, with details about how to pursue consideration for each type.
Merit-Based Scholarships: These types of scholarships include awards based on academic performance, service, and other qualifying criteria.
1. Scholar Search Test – All incoming freshmen are eligible to register for this test, administered once each year. The twenty-five students who earn the top scores are awarded one-year scholarships worth $750. Competition involves tests in English and Math. Scores from standardized tests may also be considered. All testing material is provided, and calculators are not permitted.
2. Dominican Sisters Scholarship – This scholarship is sponsored by Bishop Watterson High School in recognition of the many years of service given to the students and families of Bishop Watterson by the Dominican Sisters. Competition is by invitation, and the Dominican Sisters Scholarship test is administered once each year. Students earning the top ten scores on the Scholar Search test who attend one of the Bishop Watterson feeder schools are eligible to be invited. If a student is an active member of a feeder parish that does not have a grade school, that student will also be eligible. One four year, full-tuition scholarship is awarded to the winner of this competition. The winner is selected based on the scores from the Scholar Search test, the Dominican Sisters Scholarship test, and letters of recommendation provided by the grade school principal and one teacher.
