Nine BWHS Students Earn National Merit Semifinalist, Commended Scholar Honors
Nine Bishop Watterson students have been named National Merit Semifinalists or Commended Scholars based on their performances on the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Congratulations to these seniors!

Alex Casper (St. Brendan School and Parish) is a Commended Scholar who is Vice President of the BWHS Marching Band and a Section Leader and also participates in Jazz Band, Concert Band, and Prayer Club. He is a Student Ambassador and a member of the Mock Trial Team. At his parish he is an altar server, member of the youth group leadership team and assists with the live stream ministry. In addition, he volunteers at the Hilliard Library Homework Help Center. He is planning to major in pre-med in college.

Emily Davidson (St. Timothy School and Parish) is a Commended Scholar who is active in the BWHS Theatre program and Spanish Club and is a member of our In The Know Team. Emily volunteers at Community Kitchen and plans to major in biology in college.

Caroline Goodlive (St. Brigid School and Parish) is a Commended Scholar. She is captain of the BWHS Girls Tennis Team and a member of the Spanish Club and National Honor Society. Caroline volunteers to coach tennis at St. Brigid and plans to major in biology in college.

Joe Haemmerle (St. Agatha School and Parish) is a Commended Scholar. He is captain of the BWHS In The Know Team and runs on the Cross Country and Track teams. Joe is also a member of Business Club and St. Joseph of Arimathea Society. He volunteers for Whetstone Library’s Homework Help Center and plans to major in engineering in college.

Ellen Hagerty (St. Brigid School and Parish) is a National Merit Semifinalist. Ellen is an Irish Dancer, volunteers at the CHA Animal Shelter and holds a part-time job.

Grace Jenkins (Immaculate Conception School and Parish) is a Commended Scholar. She is a captain on the BWHS Girls Soccer Team, runs on the Track Team and assists the Girls Basketball Team with film. In addition, Grace is a member of the In the Know team, Spanish Club and National Honor Society, and she is a Student Ambassador. Her volunteer work has been at Community Kitchen and the Clintonville Resource Center.

Morgan Kuehl (St. Brigid School and Parish) is a Commended Scholar who participates in the BWHS Business Club, Fitness Club and runs on the Cross Country team. She volunteers to coach volleyball at St. Brigid and plans to major in marketing in college.

Spencer Ruff (Our Lady of Peace School/St. Francis of Assisi Parish) is a Commended Scholar who is a member of the BWHS St. Vincent De Paul Club and has served as a Student Ambassador. He played baseball for three years and plans to major in engineering in college.

Keegan Whitacre (St. Michael School/St. John Neumann Parish) is a National Merit Semifinalist. He plays on the BWHS Lacrosse Team.
