National Business Honor Society Induction
Bishop Watterson recently inducted 18 students into the National Business Honor Society. The Bishop Watterson NBHS Chapter, created in 2013, was the first in central Ohio and just the second in the state.
The National Business Honor Society recognizes academic achievement in business education, fosters and recognizes leadership skills and character development, encourages growth ethically and socially by promoting interest in business and encourages member involvement in service learning initiatives.
Philanthropic efforts of Business Club and Student Council were recognized at this year’s NBHS Induction Ceremony. NBHS members presented a check for $7,000 to Eizayah Bull of Nationwide Children’s Hospital (above). Speakers at the ceremony included Mr. Bull, Craig Heppner, Development Officer of the Catholic Foundation which has been managing funds for both groups, and Ryan Steinbauer, BWHS Director of Development.
Student Council representatives presented checks totaling an additional $10,000 to The Breast Cancer Institute, Hope in Honduras and the St. Francis Center of McArthur, Ohio.
Membership in the NBHS is based upon academics, service and leadership, with the academic portion based on overall grade point average and GPA in business classes. Each member must take a minimum of four business classes, with two of them required to be advanced placement and/or dual enrollment.
