Four students have been honored with the Monsignor Spiers Service Award for the
2022-23 school year, announced as a highlight of Catholic Schools Week.

Congratulations to Jenna Collier, Angelina Ferguson, Ava Fultz and Colby Graham!

The Monsignor Spiers Service Awards are named after Monsignor Edward Spiers, the founding principal when Bishop Watterson opened its doors in 1954. Monsignor Spiers served as principal at Bishop Watterson from 1953-1971. A tradition that goes back to 1996, these awards are presented by Student Council to honor students who have performed outstanding service in both the school and the community. The Msgr. Spiers Awards honor individuals who have upheld his commitment to the Christian values of service and education.

Jenna Collier, Class of 2023, St. Michael Parish

Amassing almost 275 hours above the Sophomore Service Requirement, Jenna is active as a volunteer at St. Michael Parish, the Mid-Ohio Foodbank, and local athletic events.  At Watterson she has accumulated hours as a Student Ambassador, Kairos Leader and St. Vincent DePaul leader.

Angelina Ferguson, Class of 2025, Our Lady of Peace Parish

During her freshman and sophomore year, Angelina has recorded 257 hours volunteering in Guatemala on both Mission Trips and working in the Maurina Guirola Orphanage. Locally, Angelina assists in her home parish of Our Lady of Peace, and volunteers as a Student Ambassador.

Ava Fultz, Class of 2023, St. Brendan Parish

Volunteering almost 115 hours above the Sophomore Service Requirement, Ava is an active volunteer with Mid-Ohio Foodbank, Hilliard Food Pantry, St. Brendan Parish and FLOW – Friends of the Lower Olentangy Watershed. At Watterson she has accumulated hours as a Student Ambassador, within the Recycling Program and Art program.

Colby Graham, Class of 2023, Our Lady of Peace Parish

Accumulating close to 285 hours above the Sophomore Service Requirement, Colby has continued his service at the Forum at Knightsbridge.  Additionally, he is an active volunteer at Our Lady of Peace, Buddy Up for Life, and participates in various outdoor projects in the Central Ohio area.  At Watterson he has accumulated hours as a Student Ambassador and Kairos Leaders.
