Hockey Team’s “Eagles Feed Friends” Donations Support Colerain Students
Members of the Bishop Watterson hockey team visited Colerain Elementary Jan. 23 to deliver food as part of “Eagles Feed Friends,” a team effort to support the Columbus City School’s “Feed A Friend” program.
Senior captain Danny Kraft, along with seniors Keegan Gibson and Kyle Hanley delivered food that had been donated, in lieu of admission fees, during the team’s December and January home games. The Eagles also raised more than $500, which was used to purchase household items including laundry detergent, and will be used for future food purchases.
Colerain Elementary collects food donations to support families in need each month. Kraft’s father, Brian, is a third-grade teacher at Colerain, and the senior defenseman is often is a volunteer at the school.
Bishop Watterson’s hockey team will continue to collect food during the team’s remaining home games and will deliver additional food at the end of the season.
“Hockey is a tight-knit family, and our team recognizes as hockey players and Bishop Watterson students the importance of giving back to the community,” Nicole Kraft, team parent, said. “We are so proud of their efforts and grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Colerain family.”
