Four Named Commended Scholars
Four Bishop Watterson students have been named National Merit Commended Scholars based on their performances on the 2021 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
Caleb Kenney (St. Brigid School, Liberty Presbyterian Church) is a section leader in the Bishop Watterson Marching Band and Concert Band as well as a member of the Jazz Band and pitt orchestra. He is a member of the National Honor Society, was chosen as a member of the 2022 Homecoming Court, and has volunteered at Kemper House and with grade school band students. Caleb plans to major in chemical engineering in college.
Annie Melaragno (St. Brendan School and Parish) is Student Council Vice President as well as a Student Ambassador. She plays soccer and runs track for Bishop Watterson and is a member of the National Honor Society, Italian Club and Spirit Committee. She volunteers at St. Lawrence Haven, Westside Free Store Ministries and the Ohio Orthopedic Surgery Center. She plans to major in biochemistry, biological sciences or pharmaceutical sciences in college.
Luke Ponesse (Immaculate Conception School and Parish) is Student Council Treasurer and served as Junior Class President. He is a member of Bishop Watterson’s wrestling and lacrosse teams in addition to the mock trial team. He plans to major in pre-law at The Ohio State University.
Natalie Zesch (St. Agatha School and Parish) is Vice President and a section leader for the Bishop Watterson Marching Band and also a member of the bowling team. She volunteers at St. Agatha’s Parish School of Religion and plans to major in computer science in college.
