Congratulations to the 12 seniors inducted into the International Thespian Society (ITS) on December 8. ITS is the world’s largest honor society for theatre students. The designation “Thespian” includes members who excel in technical and production fields as well as performance in their high school theatre.
Welcome to Troupe #4688 – Jenna Black, Reagan Bramlish, Vivian Divierte, Mandy Flanagan, Zoe Lamaze, Kenzie Gelo, Cailey Gottwald, Emily Hohlefelder, William Long, Matthew McCarthy, Bridget Noonan, Nicole Orsini. We are so proud of your dedication to the arts. – “Act well your part, there all the honour lies.”
Affiliation with the International Thespian Society (est. 1929) brings credibility and distinction to students, theatre programs, and schools. It is a visible, positive symbol of the quality of the school’s theatre program. ITS recognizes, rewards, and encourages student achievement and celebrates the work of students in all aspects of theatre—performance and production. Students earn an invitation to Thespian Society membership on the basis of their achievements in the school’s theatre program.
Thespian troupes, led by a troupe director who is a professional member of the Educational Theatre Association, serve students in grades nine through twelve. Junior Thespian troupes serve students in grades six through eight. There are at present active ITS troupes in more than 3,900 high schools and middle schools, mostly in the United States and Canada. The Society recently inducted its two millionth Thespian.
