Fill Up Fridays

Bishop Watterson High School’s Lenten tradition of assisting people in need, “Fill Up Fridays,” started with a collection for the Our Lady of Guadalupe Center on February 22.

This week’s theme is Toy Story. Team Woody, Team Buzz, Team Jessie and Team Mr. Potato Head will collect cleaning products, toiletries and size four diapers for J.O.I.N.

During Fill Up Fridays, students form teams and compete to see who can generate more donations for their team to fill up the back of a truck. Our first Fill Up Friday was a nutty, Chipmunk competition: Team Theodore, Team Alvin and Team Simon. Together they collected 4,347 items for Guadalupe Center and Team Alvin came out on top with a total of 1,995.

Our last Fill Up Friday will be March 22 with the theme of March Madness. Multiple teams will collect toiletries, toilet paper and food items for Holy Family Soup Kitchen.
