Cheryl Visits BWHS Marketing Class
Mr. Matt McGowan’s Business Law and Marketing students have been inviting guest speakers to their classes for over twenty years. Over 200 business leaders, lawyers, managers, assistant mangers, TV and radio personalities have all given an overview of their education, their first jobs and current positions. Each has spoken about how their jobs related to the class and the world as a whole.
Recently, one of the classes had the privilege of listening to the story of Cheryl Krueger who founded Cheryl & Co. She discussed how she started the company and the efforts in marketing and leadership for the company to grow and become an international leader in the sale of gourmet cookies. She described not only how she developed her brand in a successful manner, but the leading figures that she looked up to and who had an influence on her throughout her business career. She told how the well-known and successful people of Steve Jobs and Les Wexner, “saw the invisible and did the impossible.” These entrepreneurs of our generation have made an enormous contribution to the business world around us and it was interesting to hear the impact they had on her life.
This form of hands-on experience listening to successful business people within the Central Ohio area has served to not only further educate the students of Bishop Watterson, but also provide motivation and incentive that it is possible to achieve your goals. Although Cheryl Krueger was one of many guest speakers this year, she certainly told an influential and inspirational story that will always be remembered by the current Business Law and Marketing students. Other guest speakers this spring include: Senator Jim Hughes-Ohio Senate, Randy Malloy-Owner CD 101, MaryBeth Sullivan-Senior Vice President at Huntington Bank, Ron Fresco-Managing Partner at Reminger Co, LPA, Joel Kessel Owner of Kessel Communications, Jessica Khourie-Financial forecaster for Procter and Gamble. Debi Lewis-Paralegal at Vorys, Sater, Seymour & Please, Bill Messerly-Executive Director of Gabriel Catholic radio and Shane Swearingen-Career Agent for Legacy Strategies.
