Eagles District Runner-Up - Columbus Dispatch 5.26.13
Grove City 9, Watterson 1: Kennedy Beach’s two-run double was the highlight of a five-run third inning, and second-seeded Grove City (26-4) routed Watterson (19-5) in a Division I district final. Beach had three of the Greyhounds’ 11 hits.
Grove City’s other runs in the third came on successful bases-loaded bunts by Destini Ewing and Haylea Garner. “People probably wondered why I had two good hitters like that bunting, but their corners were back and we were in a situation where I thought we could make some things happen,” coach Ted Williams said. “Our table setters put us in a position where we can try things like that.”
District finals on Saturday, May 25, 1:00 PM against GROVE CITY.
Location: Pickerington HS Central, 300 Opportunity Way, Pickerington, OH - 43147.
