Weightlifting for all candidates - Grades 9-12: Will be every Monday, Wednesday and Friday starting Wednesday, June 6th. Two lifting sessions are available: Session I, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and Session II, 2:00 to 5:30 pm at Bishop Watterson. Freshmen may come to either one of the two sessions for lifting and quickness. Bring football cleats for quickness activities.
Preseason conditioning for all candidates-Grades 9-12: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, beginning Monday, July 2nd, 6:00 to 7:20 pm at Bishop Watterson.
Camp for all football candidates - Grades 9-12: Monday, June 11th from 6:00 to 8:30 pm., Tuesday, June 26th from 6:00 to 8:30 pm and Thursday, June 28th from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, July 23rd through Thursday, July 26th from 6:00 to 8:30 pm at Bishop Watterson.
Freshmen only camp days: Begins Friday, June 22nd, 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Also, Wednesday, July 11th, 6:30 to 8:30 pm. and Wednesday, July 18th, 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
Freshmen football practice: Begins Monday, July 30th at 5:30 to 8:30 pm. Freshmen are encouraged to attend preseason conditioning as well as camp. Any questions contact Coach Bjelac or Freshmen Coach Brian Kennedy at 505-6663.
Varsity/Junior Varsity practice: Begins Monday, July 30th. Two practice sessions are held 8:00 to 10:30 am and 12:30 to 3:00 pm every day except Sunday.

*Captains’ practices and Preseason conditioning will be held every Tuesday and Thursday beginning June 19th and ending July 26th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. All players should meet at the practice field located at the Ohio School for the Deaf on Indianola Ave. no later that 4:50 p.m. Tryouts: Will be on Monday, August 6th –August 8th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Indianola practice field. Bring soccer cleats, ball, shin guards and water. There will be a voluntary morning session at Superkicks (Lewis Center) from 10:00 to 11:30 am starting August 6th and ending August 8th.

Tryouts: Monday, August 6th at Granville Golf Club, first tee time 9:30 am. Tuesday, August 7th at Foxfire Players Club, first tee time 10:30 pm. Wednesday, August 8th at Cumberland Trail Golf Club, first tee time 11:30 pm. Players must participate in tryouts to qualify for any of the teams-no late comers due to vacations etc; no exception. Please bring clubs and soft spike shoes. You are responsible for paying your own green fees at the course. You must submit all forms prior to organizational meeting July 29th.

Tryouts: Will be Monday, August 1st at Links of Groveport, 8:30 am. to 2:30 pm. We will also be having a clinic/lunch for all players in the central district. Cost is $35.00 and includes green fees and lunch, (hamburger, brats, hot dogs, salad, cookies, drinks). It will start with a 9 hole scramble and have a short rules clinic, course etiquette, putting and college speakers. Tuesday, August 2nd, at Oakhaven Golf Club (Delaware), 9:00 am, and Wednesday, August 3rd, at Homestead Golf Course (Groveport), 9:00 am. Golfers are responsible for paying their own fees at the course and must have all forms in prior to teeing off on August 1st.

Summer conditioning and practice for incoming freshmen and upper classmates: Meet at Bishop Watterson’s gym lobby entrance on Tuesdays and Fridays July 17th, July 20th, July 24th, July 27th, July 31st and August 3rd and August 5th at 8:30 am. Practices will end around 9:15 am. Other conditioning get togethers will be announced. Practice will be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays beginning on August 6th at 8:30 am. First Cross Country Invitational will be Saturday, August 25th. Alumni and Athlete Fun Run will be Saturday, July 28th at Whetstone High School.

Captains’ practice: Will be June 20, 24, 27 and July 25, 27 and 29. We will be on the track at Whetstone High School from 8:30-9:30 am and then move over to the Park of Roses for captains’ practice from 9:30 to 10:30 am. To get the updates players need to email or contact Coach Portier to make sure they are part of the contact list.
Preseason conditioning: Preseason training dates are as follows: June 22, 29, and July 12, 13, 14, 20, and 22 from 9:00 to 11:00 am. The location is TBA. Players need to contact Coach Portier regarding cross training activities (cycling, kickboxing, etc) in the summer that are not held at the practice field. Please bring running shoes and water to all training sessions.
Preseason tournament: Ohio Elite tournament - July 16-17 in Cincinnati.
Summer Camp: Team camp for 9th-12th graders is July 5-8 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. Location TBA. Camp fee is $65.00. Tryouts: Begins August 1st from 9:00 to 11:00 am and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Location TBA.

Tryouts: Will be twice a day beginning on Monday, August 6th, 7th from 7:00 to 9:30 am and 3:00 to 5:30 pm. Then only once on Wednesday, August 8th and Thursday, August 9th from 3:00 to 5:30 pm. Twice again on Friday, August 10th from 7:00 to 10:00 am and 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Whetstone Park of Roses behind the library. Be prepared to run 2 ½ miles; field hockey experience is not necessary to tryout. These tryouts are for both JV and Varsity. Mandatory Equipment: Mouth guard and shin guards. Protective eye wear is also mandatory for everyone. Also bring running shoes and water. For available summer playing opportunities, please contact Coach Baird.

BONUS-Open Volleyball: Freshmen every Wednesday starting June 13th, 4:30 to 6:30 pm at Bishop Watterson. There is a one-time fee of $10.00. There will be a CCL League for any Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors starting Wednesday, June 13th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. No prior sign-ups necessary just come if interested.
Preseason conditioning: Begins Tuesday, June 12th, 9:00 to 10:00 am at Bishop Watterson. Please report to the back parking lot. Tryouts: August 6th, 7th and 8th, 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Please bring water.

Tryouts for all levels will be on June 14th and 15th from 4:30 to 6:30 pm and June 16th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Meet in the gym lobby. You will tryout for either the football or basketball season. Remember to bring water. Attire: White shirt, black shorts, hair pulled back and no jewelry.

Co-ed camp 9-12th grade: Monday, July 9-13th. On Monday, Tuesday and Friday time will be 4:00 to 6:00 pm and on Wednesday and Thursday time will be 3:30 to 5:30 pm at Whetstone Park of Roses. Cost is $100.00. Any questions regarding camp, please contact Coach Barb Woods at 457-5861.
Captains’ practices: Tuesday evening beginning week of June 11th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Whetstone Park of Roses. (No practice June 10th due to camp).
Conditioning: Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday starting the week of June 11th through August 3rd from 9:00 to 10:30 am. (No conditioning on July 4th). This will be tennis-specific and designed to increase strength, stamina and agility. Please come in running shoes and bring water. Location will be announced at a later date.
Tryouts: Monday, August 6th 9:00 to 11:00 am at Whetstone Park of Roses. Bring racquet, towel, water, running and tennis shoes and required paperwork. Tryouts will take approximately three practice days with line-ups announced on Wednesday, August 8th. Contact Coach Weil with any questions. A CLEAR OUTLINE OF THE TRYOUT PROCESS AND EVALUATION PROCEDURES WILL BE PROVIDED BY EARLY JULY.

Senior Shannon Caldwell has overcome the effects of juvenile idiopathic arthritis and has become one of the Eagles' top distance runners. more
Ellie Wood, GIRLS LACROSSE, The Dispatch selects a top performer in each sport in season: 4/28/12
Wood, a freshman midfielder, totaled 17 goals and 10 assists as Watterson went 5-0. She had three goals and two assists each in wins over Granville (15-6) and Bexley (16-11). She also had three goals in a 12-6 win over Centerville. In the Hannigan-Galipault Tournament, she had six goals and five assists) in a 13-2 win over Cleveland Heights Beaumont, and she added two goals and an assist in a 14-4 win over Strongsville. Wood also won 13 draw controls.
Tuesday, May 1st the BASEBALL program will be honoring its senior baseball parents and players at our game vs. Whetstone. The senior parents will then all throw out a first pitch before the game. Game time is 5 pm.

Joe Mankovecky brings home the bronze in the High School State Indoor Track and Field Championships. Joe went 6-2 in the High Jump at Central District Indoor Championships, placing first on March 10th. He also won the Arnold Track and Field Classic high jump with a leap of 6' 5". This height earns Joe Second Team All American status. more

The boys basketball team (17-7, 7-1) finished the season as District Runner-up and CCL Champions.
The Boys Basketball team earned the fourth seed in the D-II sectional tournament. Watterson (17-7) defeated Big Walnut 48-41 on March 1, Highland 63-23 on Feb. 22 and Bishop Hartley 42-40 in the District Semifinals on March 7 Brookhaven defeated the Eagles 57-43 in the District Championship on March 9 at the Fairground Coliseum.

Summer Youth Camps - Bishop Watterson High School hosts several Summer Youth Sports Camps. The camp is staffed by BWHS faculty and students. The camp is dedicated to teaching proper fundamentals, teamwork, sportsmanship and positive self-esteem. Sports camps currently offered are baseball, boys and girls basketball, cheerleading, field hockey, football, boys and girls lacrosse, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls tennis, girls volleyball and weight lifting. The Varsity Girls Basketball team (18-5) concluded their regular season as Co-CCL Champions. This is the fifth year in a row that the girls have won the CCL championship. Reynoldsburg defeated the Eagle on March 1 in the District semi-finals at Olentangy Orange. Reynoldsburg is currently ranked #1 in the state. more

Sam Kayuha finished
third overall in 17:33 and Mark Widerschein placed sixteenth as both advanced as individuals to the Regional Cross Country Championships in Troy. Scholar Athlete of the Week
Bishop Watterson student and St. Brigid of Kildare parishioner Molly Heigel has been named an Eddie George Scholar Athlete of the Week by The Week in Football, out Oct. 3. Molly, a senior, is a cheerleader with a 4.023 grade point average. Molly is currently captain of the varsity football cheerleading squad and cheered on the varsity basketball squad last year. She is a member of the BWHS Senior Leadership Team, Vice President for the National Honor Society and a member of the Spanish Club. Molly is also a member of the core team of the St. Brigid Youth Group and has volunteered for the St. Brigid Religious Education Program. Congratulations Molly!
Bishop Watterson student and St. Andrew parishioner Shannon Caldwell was recently named an Eddie George Scholar Athlete of the Week by The Week in Football. Shannon, a senior, is a cross country runner with a 3.9 grade point average. She serves as a captain for the team, is also a member of the track & field team and spent three years on the BWHS girls soccer team. She has done more than 180 hours in volunteer work and is a member of the Ski, Key and Nellie’s Clubs. Congratulations Shannon!
